THE BRIEFING
Known Associates is a social deduction party game about how well you really know your friends. Everyone joins a lobby from their phone or browser. Once the game starts, one player becomes The Focus.
A prompt (we call them Case Files) is revealed, and everyone except The Focus writes an anonymous answer about them. The Focus sees the same Case File, but they do not answer. Their job is to figure out who wrote what.
Once the responses are in, the answers are revealed anonymously. The Focus guesses which friend wrote each response. Everyone else votes for the funniest, most accurate, and the hardest to deny answers.
The game keeps moving from round to round, with a new Focus each time.

Every Case File is designed to create a different kind of reaction: a laugh, a pause, a defensive “that’s not true,” or the kind of silence that usually means somebody got a little too close.
gold files
Built around perception, reputation, posturing, and how someone gets read by the room.
red files
Meaner, riskier, and more likely to start an argument you may or may not recover from.
green files
More playful than brutal, in theory. A good entry point for new groups trying to keep it civil.
Not every answer should be trusted. All of them should be remembered.
It works best with groups that like sharp humor, reading the room, and saying the kind of thing that gets funnier once everyone knows who wrote it.
